Vice President for Finance
The Treasury Department serves the Potomac Conference by providing faithful stewardship through accurate accounting and sound financial management of all conference resources. In alignment with the mission to grow healthy, disciple-making churches, the department ensures that tithes and offerings are managed with integrity, transparency, and care.
The team supports more than 900 employees by processing payroll across all conference schools and churches, safeguards conference properties through comprehensive insurance coverage, and oversees regular audits of all entities to ensure accountability and financial excellence.

Elder Kent Sharpe is a seasoned financial leader with extensive experience in denominational administration, accounting, and organizational stewardship. A Certified Public Accountant, he holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Southern Adventist University and an MBA from the University of Baltimore. Throughout his career, he has served in key financial roles across the Seventh-day Adventist Church, including conference auditor, academy business manager, chief controller for Adventist Risk Management, treasurer in two conferences, vice president of finance for Adventist World Radio, and most recently, project director for the North American Division’s Antioch Initiative. His work reflects a strong financial acumen, strategic insight, and a deep commitment to supporting mission-driven operations with excellence and integrity.
Sharpe also brings a passion for evangelism, contributing to outreach efforts in nearly 80 countries, with a particular focus on urban ministry.
He is married to Lisa and is the proud father of Allyssa and Zach, both of whom serve in the Ohio Conference.
