Hispanic Camp Meeting Plants Churches, Baptizes Seven

More than 3,300 adults and children attended Potomac’s annual Hispanic Camp Meeting, June 17 – 19. The theme of the event, and throughout the year in Hispanic churches, was “Life in Abundance,” based on John 10:10.

Special guest speakers included Pastor Elmer Alferez, president of the Central Salvadorian Association, Pastor Carlos Gill, President of the Argentinean Union, Dr. William Miller, President of the Potomac Conference, Dr. Jorge Ramirez, Vice President of the Potomac Conference and Dr. Jose D. Esposito, Hispanic Ministries director for the Potomac Conference. Special musical features included the Jerusalem choir from Richmond Spanish Church, the Capital Spanish Church choir, the kids choir of Richmond Spanish Church, Alabanza Pura, the musical group that supports the Hispanic Ministries of the conference and the Mexican professional singer, Jose Ocampo. All praised God by using their gift and to touch the lives of others.

Hundreds of volunteers helped to distribute more than 2,000 books of Steps to Christ within the surrounding communities. Volunteers also offered to pray with people and many say the experienced showed them how many people are in need of Jesus.

At the conclusion of the event, seven people publicly expressed their love for Jesus through baptism and two new mission groups were presented – one in Chesapeake, Va., with 14 members led by Pr. Federico Revollo and one in Seneca Valley, Md. with 35 members led by Pr. Fismed Omar.

“Sabbath was powerful,” says Esposito. “We finished at 10:00pm and learned that the Father was praised, the Holy Spirit was manifested and Jesus was accepted in the hearts of hundreds of people.”
